Reinforce IBM’s commitment to open source Hyperledger Fabric

It’s been an exciting year for blockchain development. From privacy-conscious digital health certificates to new, digitized supply chain infrastructure, some of the most exciting technological advances in recent times have taken advantage of corporate blockchain and distributed ledgers.

That’s why today we’re doubling our contributions to Enterprise Blockchain and Hyperledger, donating the underlying code for some of the most powerful features of the IBM Blockchain Platform to the open source community, and introducing a new Hyperledger Fabric support offering.

A new coding contribution for Hyperledger Fabric

Today, IBM is contributing code to make it easier for businesses to develop and deploy blockchain solutions. This includes the underlying code for the IBM Blockchain Platform Console – an intuitive user interface that makes up today’s Fabric Operations Console. The console allows different platforms to be easily integrated into a Hyperledger Fabric network, which improves the standardization and usability of the platform. We are also donating the code that supports the token exchange on Hyperledger Fabric, the Fabric Token SDK, as well as DLT interoperability.

In addition to a coding infrastructure, most companies need other network management and governance tools that allow them to quickly build and scale blockchain networks. The Fabric Operations Console provides organizations with access to our governance management tools, further enhancing organizations’ ability to collaborate with partners and create value.

A new Hyperledger Fabric support offering

We know that many customers who work with Open Source need extended support, and we will continue to access our know-how on IBM Certified Images, Code Security Scans, Break / Fix Level 3 Support and 24 / 7 Customer Support. This offering will be available through the Red Hat Marketplace this fall and will offer the same level of fabric support previously only available to our IBM Blockchain Platform customers.

These posts underscore our commitment to helping developers by providing them with the latest tools and information. The Hyperledger Fabric platform is stable, operational, robust, and compliant. We hope that Hyperledger partners will help us take Fabric to the next level while benefiting from the new added value and functionality of our code contribution.
