Blockchain and interoperability: it’s time to take the next step
As blockchain matures for businesses, companies that have invested in building networks on private, approved blockchains are looking at interoperability as the next step on the blockchain roadmap. The World Economic Forum and Chainlink have published a white paper setting standards for interoperability between blockchain and legacy systems.

Interoperability is also about maintaining trust while maintaining interactivity between networks, even those built using different protocols like R3 and Hyperledger. For example, new Telefonica networks based on Hyperledger Fabric will offer native interoperability with the existing Ethereum networks.

At IBM Blockchain, we believe that exchanging information between networks increases the business value proposition for blockchain. To this end, IBM is developing technologies that enable the trustworthy exchange of transactions between networks and is currently at an advanced stage in customer calls for acceptance.
